About the Artist Photo Gallery Exhibits Classes Home
Richard “Sandy” Stromberg now resides in Williamsburg after living in Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay for 30 years. The beauty of the wildlife on the bay inspired him to pursue his interest in carving waterfowl. While living in Deale he learned the art of waterfowl carving and subsequently began to teach this art form. His work has been exhibited in many waterfowl shows throughout the East Coast, the Midwest and Canada, including the Easton Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Maryland. During his carving career Sandy has won over 200 ribbons including many blues and Best in Show awards. Many of his carving students have also been awarded blue ribbons and Best in Shows. Sandy’s wildlife is currently being exhibited at the Mathews Art Gallery in Mathews, Virginia where he will be teaching classes in the fall. His work is also displayed at York Hall in Yorktown, Virginia.
